Baby Taylor Mahogany BT2

IN STOCK

The ¾-size Baby Taylor firmly established the travel guitar category years ago and today is more popular than ever. At the heart of it all is an authentic guitar sound and inviting playing experience. Featuring a sapele laminate back and sides and solid top of either spruce or mahogany, you can add a capo, high-string it, tune it down, play it around the campfire, help your kids form their first guitar chords — however you use it, it's always fun to have one within reach. The mahogany-top version will yield a slightly darker, earthier tone than the spruce top.

Body Length: 15 3/4" / Body Width: 12 1/2" / Body Depth: 3 3/8"

A ¾-size Dreadnought that's big on tone.

A ¾-scale Dreadnought, the Baby Taylor is designed to yield a ton of volume for its small size. A laminated sapele back is pressed into a slight arch, providing strength and helping produce the Baby’s full, rich tone. It’s also remarkably versatile for special applications, whether played in alternate tunings or high-strung; with a capo or a slide. And it’s the perfect travel companion or starter guitar for young kids.

Wood

Sapele LAminate

Used On: The 100 Series, GS Mini, Baby, Big Baby

While the rich tones of solid wood remain unmatched, laminates can yield great sound in a beautiful, durable and affordable instrument. Such is the case with sapele laminate, in which we use interior and exterior veneers of sapele with a filler layer between them. One of the benefits of laminates for guitars is extra resilience in the face of fluctuating humidity conditions. This comes in handy for guitars like the GS Mini and Baby Taylor models, which are travel-friendly guitars that may be more directly exposed to different environments. All Taylor laminate models do feature a solid wood top to optimize the tonal response.

Bracing: X Bacing

X Bracing

All of Taylor’s bracing for steel-string models is a form of X-bracing. The “X” provides a continuous flow of strength from the upper bout to the lower bout, which provides rigidity in spite of the soundhole’s location in the middle of the soundboard. We currently offer three versions of X bracing:
